We took the family out to Tate Farms in Meridianville (near Huntsville) this afternoon. I was a little skeptical it would turn out to be more like a redneck version of Chucky Cheese, but the place turned out to be surprisingly legitimate. Maddie loved playing in the corn cribs and with the bunnies in the small petting zoo. The folks that run the place were fine folks and kept the place in immaculate shape. If you like to cook with pumpkin or squash for fall soups, risotto, sauces, pies, or pastries you can find an impressive selection of hybrid and heirloom varieties from which to choose. We bought four different ones to try, so I'll have to post the results of my experimentation soon. For you Alabama residents, check out the link http://www.tatefarmspumpkins.com/
